| A WARNING ABOUT HELEN CHEN AND CHINATEFL.COM

This woman continues to trick and cheat foreigners and now I have just learned that she is also cheating the schools. Promising schools that she will send good teachers, but actually sends most people with no experience teaching - just people who can speak English. The school I am working at has 4 English classes. Should have 2 teachers supplied by Helen Chen and her fake chinatefl.com (the actual real chinatefl is chinatefl.NET ... she fools people from getting to the real tefl by listing herself as chinatefl.COM). Anyway, 2 teachers to teach 4 classes, each teacher having 2 classes. Last semester, class 1 and 2 went through 5 teachers and now waiting for number 6. (I am stable here as I am a real teacher and the school is happy with me). The last teacher that lasted only a week.... a 65 years old woman from Tasmania, who was tricked and promised all the usual... and came all the way from Tasmania just to teach here. They sent this poor, old lady all over China in a few days time, traveling for long hours at a time, and being told by Helen Chen that she must pay for her travel expenses and will be reimbursed later. When she got here... she only had about 70 RMB with her, so I helped her as much as I could. After being here 1 week, she decided to leave, as the students did not give her a very good time. So she contacted her daughter in Australia, to wire her money, because Helen Chen would not give her any advance pay. Her daughter wired her money and she returned home...having a terrible experience with Helen Chen and her fake promises... and China..... The teacher who was here before her, Helen Chen still owes him 2 months salary and travel expenses.... about 12,000 RMB.
Now this fake chinatefl, Helen Chen, has breached my contract. Telling me that they made a mistake in words and do not want to give me my Feb. holiday pay. I spoke with the school this morning. I found out that the school has paid Helen Chen in advance for the semester and the contract is very clear that I will get all payments, but she refuses to pay me. The school has asked me to "bear with it, they will make sure I get all my money"... as "they don't want to lose me". The school has also told me that Helen Chen has breached the contract with the school, but because they have paid her in advance, they know they will lose the money. The school is now considering legal action against Helen Chen, but fears that she has high government officials that she is bribing to continue to operate. (The school will get rid of her and her fake agency end of June when their contract expires). The good news is that we are making better arrangements to help foreigners have a good experience here at this school and will no longer use any agency to hire foreigners.
The point here is to serve as another WARNING to any and all foreigners to stay away from this Helen Chen, chinatefl.com. Do not be tricked by this vile serpent. Helen Chen is sneaky, underhanded and a complete liar and cheater.
One last thing... you do not need to though any agency to get a teaching job, you can go to schools directly you can find many schools in China through the internet and send them your resume directly.

| I have been living in China for two years and have had two Residence Permits from the former jobs. My new/current school has just given me a "one-month" F Visa to cover my time prior to getting my Residence/Work Permit. They have informed me that they have already obtained the Work Permit, but that I must go to Macao to get a "Z" Visa. In the past, with my two former Residence Permits (stamped on my passport), I was never given a "Z" Visa and was told that the Regulation had changed around January, 2005. With the "Residence Permit" stamped on my Passport, I was able to work and to leave and enter the country within the validity period indicated.
Please advise on this matter as it doesn't make sense that I have to go to Macao at this time (after getting the Work Permit).
